It's a movie about kung fu, but it's titled Karate Kid, well, that's fine with me: Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith are awesome after all!

Karate Kid Remake Movie

A remake of the Karate Kid is under works. Director Harald Zwart is helming the project and Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith got the lead roles respectively as Mr Han, the Karate teacher, and the young Dre, his student. The movie Karate Kid will hit theaters on June 11, 2010.

Here below the first official teaser of Karate Kid:

Plot:
"Work pressures cause a single mother moves to China with her young son; in his new home, the boy embraces karate, taught to him by a master of the self-defense form."

When I first heard there would be a remake of the Karate Kid, i wasn't much excited, I was thinking it would be some low-quality remake. But since I know Jackie Chan is on board, I'm actually quite thrilled by this movie. Jackie Chan is the best choice in that role. And regarding Jaden Smith, well I guess any kid would make do for the role of the student as long as he's motivated!

Let's hope that they will release the trailer of this Karate Kid remake soon.

The original Karate Kid movie was released in 1984. Teh movie was directed by John G. Avildsen and was starring Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and Pat Morita as Mr. Kesuke Miyagi.
